In your child's bag, you will find a copy of your child's trimester one trick word assessment. Trick words are like sight words. They are words that students cannot apply the taught strategies for decoding to. We have worked with these words as part of the Fundations phonics units that have been completed in first grade.
We consider a score of 80% or higher to be a
score that demonstrates mastery in the Fundations program. Words that were spelled incorrectly are good
words to work with at home for both reading and spelling. I would suggest making flash cards for
review.
