Family
Shields: As part of our Catholic Schools Week
celebration, each child is asked to make a family shield.  The shield template and directions are coming
home with your child today.
Upcoming Star of the Week:  Sebastian
Upcoming Secret Reader: Phoebe
Schreiner
Math: On Thursday, we completed an
assessment on unit seven, Counting and Number Patterns to 120.  Look for your child’s assessment
shortly.   Up next is our eighth unit, Tens and
Ones.  This unit will focus on counting
with groups of ten and leftovers, numbers made with tens, tens and ones,
expanded form, ways to make numbers, and making organized lists. At home, continued practice with math facts is very important!
Phonics:  We spent part of the week reviewing the material from
unit seven; the additional glued sounds ang, ing, ung, and ong.  Next week we will introduce our next set of
glued sounds; ink, onk, unk, and ank.
Other topics covered in this unit are blending and segmenting the “ng”
and “nk” sounds, narrative fiction vs. informational books, and reading with
accuracy and prosody.
Science: We
are excited to begin science again next week.
We will be wrapping up our exploration of liquids through experiments
with different liquids in bottles.
Religion: In
the coming weeks students will be hearing stories about what Jesus taught.  This study will take us up to the Lenten
season.
Enjoy your weekend.
