Turkey Projects: Turkey projects are due back at school by Friday, October 30th.
Upcoming Star of the Week:  Ciara
Upcoming Scientist of the Week: John (November 6th)

Math: We completed unit three, Five and Ten Relationships on Thursday.  We began work in our fourth unit, Addition and Subtraction Facts to 12.  Students are using ten-frames to explain their thinking and evaluate number relationships.

We are enjoying a fun Halloween themed math unit called, Franken-number.  We used “Frankenlines”to solve math problems using Frankenstein number lines and made Frankenstein craft to go with it.  Check them out below!  Next week we will play a series of Franken-number math games to go with our math work.

Phonics:  This week we continued work with digraphs.  We worked to master the ck spelling at the end of words after a short vowel.  We also worked on scooping with the short story, “Cod Fish” as a group.  On Monday, students will have an assessment to wrap up our third unit, which focused on digraphs.  In our new unit we will be focusing on the bonus letters spelling rule (pill, cuff, fuss) and the glued sound all like in ball.  This is new material that has not been previously taught in Kindergarten.

Religion: Next week students will learn about Jesus and ministry and teachings through acting out bible stories.

Have a great weekend!
