Math: We completed
our study of time on Friday. Using
handmade clocks, students explored time to the hour and half hour. Up next after vacation is unit 14, Using Data
to Answer Questions. We will work to
make real, picture and bar graphs to organize information.
Some great online games for this upcoming unit are below:
Science: We will begin our
study of the butterfly life cycle after vacation! Students will watch their own caterpillar as
it transitions into a butterfly later this spring. This is an exciting time for students! We will resume our study of pebbles, sand,
and silt as well.
Phonics: We began work in unit eleven this week. This unit covers the vowel-consonant-e syllable type and words with long vowels. We have mastered the letter-keyword-sound combinations for the long vowel sounds. In your child's writing, application of the silent e to words like cape and lime should be encouraged. Your child will tap these words in the same manner that they tap CVC words, however there is no tap for the e as it is silent.
