Math: We are wrapping up work in our 12th unit,
Length. Students have primarily been
working with indirect measurement to compare the lengths of different classroom
objects and using cubes as a measure to compare length. We will begin our next unit, Time, next
week. We will work with hand clocks to
master time to the hour and half hour.
A few good online time games can be
found here:
Phonics: On Monday we will have our unit ten assessment, which covered the ed and ing suffix endings (wished, wishing). We will begin work in our eleventh unit early next week, which will cover the vowel-consonant-e syllable in one-syllable words and long vowel sounds. This unit will span three weeks and will wrap up in early May.
Religion: On
Wednesday students completed their study of the Lenten season. Students are now working on the Ascension and
Pentacost.
Science:
This week in science students evaluated the
changes they saw with our scoria, tuff and basalt rocks as they were submerged
in water. Each rock presented
differently in water than they did with our initial exploration of the
properties of these rocks alone.
