Fall Conference
Signup: Please use the link below to
sign up for a fall conference time slot:
If we have already met this school year, or have a meeting
set for the next week or so, we will plan to meet again in late November or early
December.
Homework: As we
move into October, our homework routine will change. All pencil should be done in pencil only.
Monday: Religion,
math
Tuesday-Thursday:
Phonics/handwriting, math
Map Testing: Map
testing will be held next week on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. We will begin immediately after attendance is
taken next week. On time arrival is
appreciated!
Math: This week we
have worked to write subtraction number sentences, stories about taking away, stories
about missing parts, connecting models and symbols to subtraction. Up next week
will be subtraction problem solving. Our
unit assessment will be on Thursday.
Phonics: We are working through unit two, which focuses
on blending and segmenting three sound words with a review on tapping as a
skill, sentence dictation procedures and story retelling. This unit will also introduce our first sight
words. We call these sight words “trick
words” in FUNdations.
Reading: Guided
Reading groups will begin during the next week.
In October the class will work to learn about inferencing using the
familiar book, No, David.
Inferencing will build on our September skill of making predictions.
Religion: In
Religion we have been learning about the Trinity. We are celebrating the feast of St. Francis
and have been learning about St. Francis as a role model.
Science: We began
our study of the five senses this week with exploration of smell. See our blog post about this! Next week we will explore touch.
Have a great weekend!
