Math: This week students have worked to find the missing parts of 6, 7, 8, and 9. During the second half of this week we have worked to write subtraction number sentences and have worked on stories about taking away.  Next week we will work on stories about missing parts, connecting models and symbols to subtraction, and subtraction problem solving.  The unit two assessment will be at the end of next week.

Phonics:  On Monday we began our second unit which focuses on blending and segmenting three sound words with a review on tapping as a skill, sentence dictation procedures and story retelling.  This unit will also introduce our first sight words.  We call these sight words “trick words” in FUNdations.  We will have an assessment on this unit next Friday.

Reading: Guided Reading groups will begin during the first week of October.  Next week will work to make predictions using the book The Napping House.  Look for updates on this lesson on the blog!

Religion: In Religion we have been learning about the Trinity.  We are celebrating the feast of St. Francis and have been learning about St. Francis as a role model.

Science: Check out more about our first lesson on the blog below!

Have a great weekend!
