I am excited to begin work on the 1A classroom blog! A professional goal for me this school year is to integrate more technology both in to my instruction and my communication. I look forward to sharing my progress on my goal with this blog.
While I will still communicate a weekly update via email, this blog will serve as an informational tool for parents as well as a place to showcase some of the work the students in 1A are doing. I will post links in my weekly email updates to showcase student work from the school week. I will also post links to parent resources and websites where students can find additional practice for topics covered in class.
In the spirit of technology, Mrs. Arbuckle and I took an iPad course at Boston College this summer with Mr. Spillman of some of the elementary level teachers at BSS. We learned so much about different ways we can use the school set of iPads to integrate technology in our daily lessons. One exciting app we worked with is called ThreeRing (http://threering.com/). ThreeRing is a portfolio app that we will be using to create a digital writing portfolio for each student. At the end of the school year you will be amazed to see the progression of student work! We've already made our first entry into the app with our first portfolio writing piece about the first day of school. Very cool stuff!
Enjoy the week ahead!
