Upcoming Star of the Week:  Robbie (November 14th)

Math: We are nearing completion of our fourth unit, Addition and Subtraction Facts to 12.  We spent most of the week thinking about the relationship between addition and subtraction, with a focus on doubles.  We are using both ten frames and manipulatives to highlight this relationship.  Our assessment will be at the end of next week.

Take a look at the blog posts below to learn about our Halloween math fun this week!

Phonics:  We are continuing work in our fourth unit which focuses on the bonus letter spelling rule and the glued sound “all” for reading and spelling like the word ball.  We are also adding the trick words you, your, I, they, was, one and said.

Religion: We are following the works of Jesus.  This week students finished their study of Jesus and the Holy family as role models.

Science:   This week we did a fun pumpkin science and math enrichment.  Students were asked to measure, estimate, and study pumpkins for different properties.  In the next few weeks we will begin a larger science unit, Pebbles, Sand and Silt.

Have a great weekend!
