You may have heard about the 1A marble jar. Students in 1A are using
the marble jar as part of a behavioral incentive initiative in the
classroom. The way it works is simple. We have two jars in the
classroom. One jar is full of marbles that the students are working to
earn. The second jar is where we keep the marbles we have earned
through good behavior. We are working especially hard to maintain quiet
and respectful behavior in the hallways and with specialist teachers.
On occasion, the marbles can move from the earned jar as a reminder to
students that they need to maintain focus. Once all the marbles have
been earned, students will vote for a special treat during the school
day like an extra recess, special games in the gym, or something else
the students brainstorm. We are off to a great start with the marble
jar. Keep it up 1A!
