I am
excited to share that we will be welcoming a part-time student teacher to the
classroom beginning next week.  Ms.
Sullivan is a student at Regis College studying Elementary Education.  Please keep your eye out for her bio on the
blog next week!
Upcoming Star of the Week:  Syerra Dupuy
Math: This week, we completed work in our eighth unit, Tens and
Ones.  On Thursday students completed an
assessment on this topic.   On Friday, we
began work in our ninth unit, Comparing and Ordering Numbers to 100.  This unit will cover finding one more, one less,
ten more, and ten less, making numbers on a hundred chart, comparing numbers
with <,>, and =, and ordering three numbers.
Phonics:  On Friday we completed work in our seventh unit, which
covered additional glued sounds.
Students had an assessment on this topic today.  Look for your child’s assessment early next
week. Up next in our eighth unit will be blends and digraph blends, like in the
words slip and shrink.
Science: We
will work next week with liquids in bottles for a final experiment.  Students will explore the way in which
liquids with various properties move with certain actions.  Students will compare and contrast the
movements of the different liquids.
Guided Reading: I
am nearly done with the benchmark reading assessments!  This means that students will be placed in a
new group with material and activities at their independent reading level.  At home, students should read each night to
ensure success!
Religion:  We have begun work in our ninth unit, which focuses on Holy
Week.
Enjoy your weekend!
Alison
