Weekly Update March 10th

Important Dates/Events:

We had a special treat on Tuesday thanks to Mrs. Trudell.  We enjoyed a bagpiper performance from a local college.

  

Math: In math we are just finishing work in unit ten, Adding with Tens and Ones.  We will have an assessment on this topic early next week.  Up next will be unit eleven, Subtracting with Tens and Ones.

Phonics: In phonics we are nearing the end of unit nine, which has been an overview of closed syllables with an introduction of vowel teams for reading.  We will have an assessment on these skills.  In unit ten we will work to blend and segment words (ex: strap, blimp) as well as introduce the ed and ing suffix endings (ex: squinted and squinting).  Unit ten is lengthy since it introduces these concepts and additional vowel teams for reading.

Religion:  Students continue work on Lent with their Lenten study packet.  Next week we will spend time at the Church attending mass with the Blessed Sacrament community.  We discussed the differences in the masses that we regularly attend as a school community to the Parish mass.
