Moose Hill: On
Wednesday for our field trip to Moose Hill, students should bring both a bag
snack and bag lunch. While we plan to be
back to school to eat our lunch, school lunch
will not be available. Students
should come dressed in their gym uniform with coats and boots for winter
weather in the woods. Thank you!
Phonics: We began unit ten this week. Students will work to blend and segment
words (ex: strap, blimp) as well as introduce the ed and ing suffix endings
(ex: squinted and squinting).
Unit ten is lengthy since it introduces these concepts and additional
vowel teams for reading.
Math: We completed work in our tenth unit, Adding with Tens and
Ones. This week we began unit eleven,
Subtracting with Tens and Ones. In this
unit, students will work to subtract tens using a hundreds chart and by using
mental math. We have drawn comparisons
between ones number sentences and tens number sentences (7-1=6 so 70-10=60).
As a reminder, please review math facts nightly with your
children. This will help ensure your
child’s success in math this year!
Religion: Students
are learning about the different parts of mass.
A
big thank you to Mrs. Arbuckle for coordinating a fun cultural experience
yesterday for Saint Patrick’s Day! The
kids had a great time learning about this holiday and about Irish sports and traditions!
Have a nice weekend!
