Math: We completed work in our fourth unit, Addition and
Subtraction Facts to 12 with an assessment on these skills on Wednesday. We will begin work in our fifth unit, Addition
Facts to 20 on Tuesday. This unit builds
directly off unit four and the skills they have gained for problem solving to
12.
Phonics: Early next week, students will complete an assessment
on unit four, which covers the bonus letter spelling rule and glued sound “all”. We worked with the story, The Big Mess. Ask your child to read this story to you at
home! Up next is our fifth unit, which
covers the glued sounds “am” and “an” like in pan and ham.
Religion: Students have spent time thinking about Veteran’s Day.
Writing: This
week students completed their November portfolio writing piece which focused on
Thanksgiving traditions. Thank you for
your help getting tradition ideas together!
On Wednesday we will welcome Mrs. Carolyn Lombardi to 1A for her first visit with our students. Later in December she will join the classroom again as we begin the transition for January.
