After much
thought, Mrs. Arbuckle and I have decided that we will no longer allowing
students to have Pokemon cards for recess.
If they bring them to school for extended day that is okay.

Math: We are continuing work in our twelfth unit, Length. This unit focuses on comparing and ordering
by length, indirect measurement, using units to estimate and measure length,
and measuring using different units.
This unit will wrap up next Wednesday.
Our next unit will be Time.
Religion: Students continue work on Lent with their Lenten study
packet. Next week we will spend time at
the Church attending mass with the Blessed Sacrament community. We discussed the differences in the masses
that we regularly attend as a school community to the Parish mass.
Phonics: In phonics we are working in our tenth unit, which focuses on five sound words with the addition of the suffix endings ing and ed. We will spend time mastering new vowel teams for reading identification. This unit will span three weeks.
Social Growth: As
we enter the spring trimester, students are working to be “bucket fillers” in
our classroom. Together as a class, we
read the book, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. The book teaches students about the invisible
bucket that each person carries around with them. There are two kinds of friends; bucket
fillers and bucket dippers. A bucket
filler says and does nice things for others, helping them keep their bucket
full, while a bucket dipper says or does hurtful things. Look for a new bulletin board next week on
our new initiative!
