Progress Reports: In your child's red folder today are two copies of their first trimester progress reports.  Please sign and return the copy that I have signed and keep the other.  Also attached is a copy of thier fall MAP testing results as well as an information letter from the administration about these results.  I look forward to discussing your child's progress at conferences!

Party Signup: Please consider signing up to help during one of our classroom celebrations this year!  We are especially looking for volunteers for Halloween!
Math: We wrapped up unit three, Five and Ten Relationships.  Up next is our fourth unit, Addition and Subtraction Facts to 12.  We will work in a similar manner with addition and subtraction to nine as we did with addition and subtraction to nine earlier in the year with manipulatives and ten frames.

Phonics:  We are nearing the end of our third unit, which focuses on digraphs.  After the assessment at the end of next week, we will begin our fourth unit which focuses on the bonus letters spelling rule (pill, cuff, fuss) and the glued sound all like in the word ball.
·         To mark or signify bonus letters in our word work, we star the bonus letter.
·         To mark or signify glued sounds in our word work, we box the glued sound.
Religion: Students are learning about Jesus and his family and how we relate to our families, using the Holy Family.

Guided Reading:  Guided reading continued this week.  Every group spent time reading, and completing a written assignment related to their book. The goal of the written work is to ensure students have appropriate comprehension of what is read.  Students worked to read independently, chorally, and through page alternation in their small group.  If you have questions about what books might be appropriate for your child to read at home, please let me know!

Have a great weekend!
